Have you heard of an exquisite corpse? It's a fun little game where someone starts a story or picture and then passes off to another participant. It has a number of variations, and most commonly is played where the previous player only passes along a sentence in the story (or a number of pixels when playing via Photoshop).
I know a lot of geeks love wordplay and thought it would be fun to give it a go here. The rules are as follows: we're writing a poem, so each couplet has to contain the same number of syllables. I'll start and participation will follow like this:
AA AB BB BC CC CD DD D... etc.
Each letter represents a new participant. Each participant (after me) will finish the previous couplet, write one of his/her own, and then start the next couplet.
If players begin trampling on each other, we may have to resort to calling dibs. Hopefully that won't be a problem. Anyway, here we go!

I had strange hobbies and was always picked last.

Hold on just one moment. What am I doing?
Poems are flowing. From me it is spewing.
If I thrive on difference, why do I conform?

Ugh, did I really just use the word "sheeple"?
Could it be true? Am I just one of the people
Who sit on the sidelines and scoff at the rest

If so, does that make me a snob or just a geek?
Either way it's clear that I'm hardly unique.
Can being a nonconformist be how I conform?
Permalink Reply by Randy Slavey on April 13, 2012 at 7:01pm Have our tastes become part of society's norm?
And if so, why should we decry it a loss
That we're no longer looked at like Urkel or Moss?
I say, "Rejoice!" that our numbers are swelling.
