In the Forum Games: Movies, I recently gave a clue that got me thinking about movies and how they are connected to one another through actors, characters, plots, etc., and I thought it would be fun to see if the movie geeks here could figure out, given two movies, how to get from movie A to movie B. For example:

Two Degrees:

The Matrix

X

Roadhouse

would be Point Break (Keanu Reaves and Patrick Swayzee).

I'll start with one of my favorite movies and one of my favorite TV shows:

Two Degrees:

Back to the Future

X

House, M.D.

Winner gets to choose the next set. Good luck.

You're right. I got mixed up in semantics. :-) And I knew Joss Whedon would be easy.

Ok, this may be too hard, but we'll see how you guys do. I'm going back to the original version, where it's two movies connected via another movie that shares cast.

Glengarry Glen Ross
X
Princess Mononoke

Good luck!

Sure, pick Glengarry Glen Ross, which is packed full of major stars, and a movie full of nothing but voice actors. Why would you think that would be hard? :)

I'm going to guess Grosse Point Blank, Alan Arkin and Minnie Driver as the connection, although I can't help thinking there's a The Shadow (Alec Baldwin) and The Watchmen (Billy Crudup) connection I'm missing.

Could you at least give us a hint as to how many steps we're looking for?

According to his post, pretty sure we're looking for one movie.

oops. I can read, I swear. :-)

So, was I right?

Whoops! Never got the notification that you guys responded. Randy, you were correct! Grosse Point Blank, which is one of my favorite movies.

Challenge time. All actors used in this relationship were main characters, no obscure "he was in an episode of Love Boat with Bruce Jenner, who..." type things.

Three Degrees:

Inception

X

X

Pretty Woman

Good Luck!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in Inception. He was also in Dark Knight Rises with Christian Bale, who was in I'm Not There with Richard Gere. Who was in Pretty Woman.

Holy crap! I screw up and forget a degree in my original post, and you still managed to find a connection. I'm impressed, apologize for the error, and humbly pass the ball to you.

My original thinking was how could I try to sneak a childhood JGL in there and hopefully fool you all:

  • Inception (JGL)
  • Angels in the Outfield (JGL and Danny Glover)
  • Lethal Weapon (Danny Glover and Mel Gibson)
  • Conspiracy Theory (Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts)
  • Pretty Woman (Julia Roberts)

Impressive....most impressive!

:)
