In the Forum Games: Movies, I recently gave a clue that got me thinking about movies and how they are connected to one another through actors, characters, plots, etc., and I thought it would be fun to see if the movie geeks here could figure out, given two movies, how to get from movie A to movie B. For example:
Two Degrees:
The Matrix
X
Roadhouse
would be Point Break (Keanu Reaves and Patrick Swayzee).
I'll start with one of my favorite movies and one of my favorite TV shows:
Two Degrees:
Back to the Future
X
House, M.D.
Winner gets to choose the next set. Good luck.

Permalink Reply by Dave Hale on August 15, 2012 at 1:22am I hope you don't mind, since there hasn't been a lot of action here for a while, but my wife showed me one tonight, that might be pretty easy:
Batman Begins
X

X
X
Amazing Spiderman (Just for clarification, each of those "x"s is a movie in the chain
Permalink Reply by Randy Slavey on August 15, 2012 at 10:41am Gary Oldman (Batman Begins)
Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones (JFK)
Tommy Lee Jones and Wesley Snipes (U.S. Marshals)
Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson (White Men Can't Jump)
Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone (Zombieland)
Emma Stone (Amazing Spiderman)
The more degrees, the more options there are. What was your wife's solution?
Permalink Reply by Dave Hale on August 15, 2012 at 12:04pm Technically, her words was "connecting Batman to Spiderman" (the reboot franchises) and her chain was
Dark Knight Rises (JGL)
10 Things I Hate About You (JGL and Allison Janney)
The Help (Allison Janney and Emma Stone)
Amazing Spiderman (Emma Stone)
But I added the extra chain kind of as a weasel word to start with the first of the reboot so:
Batman Begins (entire cast)
Dark Knight Rises (entire cast & JGL)
etc.
Also, technically, you could have done the same with Dark Knight Heath Ledger, because he was also in 10 Things.
So, yeah, lots of options. :-)

A League of Their Own
X
Children of the Corn
Permalink Reply by Dave Hale on August 18, 2012 at 8:46pm I think you have to be a special kind of movie geek to be able to find connections using the crew. We're talking like directors, producers, cinematographers, etc. That will take a lot of time and patience with IMDB. :-)
Permalink Reply by Randy Slavey on August 20, 2012 at 10:51am Think plot, not crew.
Permalink Reply by David Robertson on August 20, 2012 at 1:21pm I think you're going for Field of Dreams, by thematically combining baseball and corn fields. Although, I like the mental image of an entirely new movie, where child cultists demand equal recognition by starting their own baseball league, much better.
