What is Mafia? Sometimes called Werewolf, it's a fun party game of accusations and conspiracy. If you haven't had the pleasure of playing this charmingly devious game at a convention or on another web forum, there's a fun Flash animation here to help you understand the rules.

I show no remorse because I'm not scum. The person that gives you too much information, or apologizes too much is covering something up.
We had no information on day one and Renly was an unfortunate causality. Lets move on and hang the bastard that did this.

Ian seems to have too much information, like a certain Spider we all know.
VOTE: Ian.
Spencer, keep in mind that it's not necessarily in the town's best interest to remove someone who would appear to have information (http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Cop). That person has to walk a fine line between making his information available to the rest of the town and exposing himself and risk being targeted by the scum. The difficult part is that this can come across as a person who appears to have more knowledge of who is town and who is scum than they should, just like the scum themselves do.
At the same time, many voted for Chris E. the first round, just as Ian did. To switch a vote over and follow his lead, and end up lynching yet another townie, carries the risk of aligning with a person who could very well be manipulating the others, and finding oneself on the chopping block soon after the manipulator is uncovered.
The way I see it, we have a few events to analyze, to which I will apply completely arbitrary "scum numbers" for my own benefit.
First would be Spencer's thirdvote on Chris E., who turned out innocent. While the third vote tell is pretty standard, attacking it on day one brings the risk of failing to reach consensus as nobody wants to drop that third vote on a person (as we are seeing right now). I'm not ready yet to take Spencer's head for having a little blood lust. I'll give it about a 3 in importance. On the same note, I'm going to give Ian half as many "scum points" to Ian for at least three mentions of the "third vote" tell, in what could be an attempt to stalemate the town into not reaching a consensus by deadline.
Next, would be Gene's mention of there being only 6 townies left when only the scum knew how many total scum there were. This was a pretty "a-ha" moment for me, and I figured we had our first scum slip. After looking at it further, though, I wondered why I wasn't that surprised at Gene's comment and I realized that, even though I had never played this game before, I also assumed there were three scum. I read quite a few mafia wikis and FAQs leading up to playing this game, and have constantly referenced them during play, and discovered more than one mention of the number of scum based on the number of total players. Therefore, what I would have initially ranked at least a 5 or more, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume Gene has read as much as I have, and rank it a 3.
Finally would be Chris Lee's response to Ian calling out Gene on the "6 townies" thing. I've laid out my thinking on this already, and won't waste your time adding to this already lengthy post, but to summarize, I felt Chris Lee's attack on Ian was overly aggressive and timed to take the focus away from Ian's "6 townie" analysis of Gene...and, given the direction of the discussion and voting, it appears to have worked. I'd rate this quite high (as is obvious by my vote), except 2 out of the 3 explanations for Chris's behavior can be explained if he was the cop. However, he has failed to respond at all to my accusation. Silence makes me nervous (which is why I was a hair's breadth away from switching my vote over to Andy until he finally joined the conversation). I'm going to give Chris Lee 3 "scum points", the same as Spencer and Gene, for his unprovoked and ill-timed attack on Ian, plus an extra for failing to respond.
I agree with Andy that baseless votes should be scrutinized, so I've attempted to lay out my thought process.

Joking aside, the Gene and Ian show has been bothering me too, but not nearly so much as why Denine seems to have it in for me. What have I done to deserve such distrust?
Your quick desire for a drink makes me think you are a little-trusted Lannister scum, Nathan. And asking me why I distrust you makes suggests are looking for acceptance that you are not getting at home.

So, let me get this right Denine - you think I'm scum because I wanted to go for a nice ale or 10 with my fellow townsfolk?
What kind of a person thinks like that? Only someone who believes that they are better that the rest us...

Permalink Reply by Nathan Barry on May 3, 2012 at 10:59am Gene and Andy - it's nearly the end of the day. Are you guys gonna vote for someone?
Permalink Reply by Ian M'Rock on May 3, 2012 at 11:05am Given the shortness of time, I'll switch to Spencer, in the hopes that we can get a lynch off. Third-vote-is-a-scumtell isn't the worst reason I've ever backed a lynch.

Well it's better to make sure we vote for someone, to give us some chance of knocking off a scum before nightfall. In the absence of better information:
