Game of Thrones Mafia Game

What is Mafia? Sometimes called Werewolf, it's a fun party game of accusations and conspiracy. If you haven't had the pleasure of playing this charmingly devious game at a convention or on another web forum, there's a fun Flash animation here to help you understand the rules.

I'll be moderating a Game of Thrones-themed Mafia game here on the GeekDad Community. If you're interested in joining in, all you have to do is sign up below.

Some rules to read before you sign up:

  1. First and foremost: this is just a game. It can sometimes be a tense and dirty game, yes, but you should be doing it for fun.
  2. Each daytime phase will last 1 week maximum. The night phase will last 48 hours.
  3. If a player hasn't posted in 72 hours, I'll prod them publicly in the thread. If they don't respond to the prod within 24 hours, I'll look for an alternate. 5 prods and it's an automatic replacement.
  4. If you're going on vacation, just post it to the thread in bold, or PM me.
  5. If you have any other questions, please consult the MafiaScum Newbie Guide and FAQ. If those don't answer your question, feel free to message me.

Ok, folks. I'm about to send out the roles via private message. Remember: keep these secret! If you're a member of the Lannisters, you don't want the goody-two-shoes Starks to know about it, because they'll be gunning for you through the whole game!

Here's the full list of rules to keep in mind while playing:

  1. First and foremost: this is just a game. It is a tense and dirty game, but you should be doing it for fun. If it stops being fun, please don't ruin it for the rest of us and just politely step down.
  2. Keep your roles and character names secret at first. Eventually it may make sense for you to reveal what or who you are (see roleclaiming and nameclaiming)
  3. Do not talk about this game outside of this thread. It's cheating. Don't be a cheater.
  4. Don't quote any private messages I send you in this public thread.
  5. Please don't use this color in your posts, as I'm using it to help my mod text stand out.
  6. Voting is done in a very specific format, so as to differentiate between speculation, idle threats, and actual accusation. VOTE: PlayerName at the top of a post. If you change your mind, perform an UNVOTE: PlayerName in the same way.
  7. It takes a majority of voters during the daytime phase to execute someone. If no majority is reached at the deadline, there will be no execution.
  8. Don't post after you're dead. I'll create a secret "graveyard" thread where you can rage all you want.

Across the Narrow Sea and the Red Waste, Daenerys Targaryen stands in the city of Qarth, before the trader Quhuru Mo. Her mouth is agape and her pulse is racing.

"Dead?" she asks, not allowing herself to believe it.

"Yes, Khaleesi," the Summer Islander says. "Killed in a tragic hunting accident. But as always in Westeros, foul play is guaranteed."

Ser Jorah Mormont, her closest advisor, nods. "Westeros is in chaos, with executions left and right as various houses vie for the throne or for justice over the Usurper's death."

King Robert is dead, Dany thinks. And his Kingdoms in ruin. The time has come for me to take back what is mine...

FYI, this is what a role message will look like:

Welcome to the game! You are King Robert Baratheon.

You helped destroy the Targaryen dynasty and became king. You've grown fat and lascivious and continually worry about the Targaryen children who survived coming back to the Seven Kingdoms to take your throne. And, unfortunately, you've just died while on a hunt, you great drunken oaf. Way to go.

Alignment: Pro-Town

Role: Vanilla

Abilities:You may vote during the day.

Win Condition:You win when all threats to your kingdom have been eliminated.

Please confirm in the main thread when you have received and read this.

Note that Robert Baratheon is not actually in this game, seeing as he is dead. :)

Oh, and once I receive confirmations from everyone, the first day will begin. With 12 of you alive at that point, it will take 7 votes to lynch someone.
