ON THE CLOCK: none

ON DECK: none

SKIPPED: none

I realized I was over-thinking the draft event. No need for Doodles or coordinating 20 families to be in the same virtual place at the same time. This is just two rounds, so there is plenty of time to handle this asynchronously through this forum.

The procedure is as follows:

  • Officially, the drafting will begin at 8a Eastern on Wednesday, April 18 and be concluded by Friday, April 27.
  • Each team must end the draft with a pitchers squad and a hitters squad.
  • Times are designated in 4-hour blocks (pausing overnight) for each team to make a selection.
  • The current team on the clock may select from the available squads (see below and attached) at any time, even if it is before the scheduled draft time.
  • A team on the clock will be skipped when the next scheduled draft time slot begins. This team may select at any point to catch up, but the draft will proceed regardless.
  • The draft will pause at the end of the first round to allow all skipped owners to catch up or to move up the scheduled times for the second round (i.e., complete the draft earlier).
  • If you will not be available during your scheduled time, you may post or send me a short list of draft instructions ahead of time, to allow us to draft by proxy.
  • If you can find a trade partner, you may swap draft position with another team. There will be ample opportunity to trade individual players after the draft, too.
  • Free agency will officially begin with the start of the season on Monday, April 30
As a courtesy, feel free to attempt to notify the next owner in the draft by sending a message through their member profile, adding a comment on their profile page, or emailing them directly. While we have 10 days scheduled for this draft, it would be wonderful if we could wrap it up much more quickly than that.

Using a random generator, I determined that this will be the order for our two-round draft:

Round 1

1. Hitter Squad B — Battin' Rouge King Cake Babies (Watson/Metairie, LA)
2. Pitcher Squad B — Tree Town Ninjas (Rozek/Ann Arbor, MI)
3. Hitter Squad G — Minnehahas (Edwards/Minneapolis, MN)
4. Hitter Squad H — Short Pump Pancake Breakfasts (Davidson/Richmond, VA)
5. Hitter Squad A — Owensboro Sluggers (Henry/Owensboro, KY)
6. Hitter Squad P — Staerker Stars (Staerke/Glenmont, NY)
7. Pitcher Squad A — Indiana Jones (Makice/Bloomington, IN)
8. Hitter Squad I — Thurber-Mingus Thunder Chickens (Christian/Frisco, TX)
9. Hitter Squad F — Honey Nut Ichiros (Sarver/Everett, WA)
10. Pitcher Squad C — Maryland Ninjas (Rose/Washington, D.C.)
11. Hitting Squad O — Greenwood Aglets (Reese/Greenwood, DE)
12. Hitting Squad S — Fishers Creepers (Gibbs/Fishers, IN)
13. Hitting Squad J — Awesome City Hardballers (Hardy/Redmond, WA)
14. Pitcher Squad F — Hillsborough Bombers (Idenden/Hillsborough, NJ)
15. Hitter Squad D — Butler Bounty Hunters (Krahn/El Dorado, KS)
16. Hitter Squad R — Deep River Circles (Garmendez/Round Rock, TX)
17. Hitter Squad L — Fairport Lally Gaggers (Lally/Fairport, NY)
18. Pitcher Squad T — Maryland Blue Crabs (Crossett/Eldersburg, MD)
19. Hitter Squad M — Chicago Hot Dogs (Harmon/Naperville, IL)
20. Hitter Squad K — Grand Theft Votto (Carpenter/Ripley, OH)

NOTE: For Round Two, we can safely split into two tracks for drafting the remaining pitching and hitting squads. Once the previous team needing hitting has selected, the next team needing hitting is free to draft. Same for pitching. The scheduled time slots will remain, but we should be able to complete this draft ahead of schedule.

Round 2

21. Pitcher Squad J — Grand Theft Votto (Carpenter/Ripley, OH)
22. Pitcher Squad P — Chicago Hot Dogs (Harmon/Naperville, IL)
23. Hitter Squad C — Maryland Blue Crabs (Crossett/Eldersburg, MD)
24. Pitcher Squad L — Fairport Lally Gaggers (Lally/Fairport, NY)

Hi, monday was busy.. now with my guy on the DL, how do i fill out my roster?

and what is the net step? What should i be keeping travk of? I like charts and spreadsheets.

Rosters are adjusted on a week-to-week basis, matching the games. You can make a request to add a player at any time, but they are resolved at the end of the week, in time for weekend roster adjustments. You can also put in a claim to of any waived players (they will be available only for the 48 hours after they are waived) and add a player more quickly that way, or by trading.

I added some explanation on the FanStar front page. We're testing how well this all works on that site this week.

I would like to nominate "I like charts and spreadsheets" as our official motto. I wonder if we can translate that into Latin. :)

Love it!

Google tells me it translates to: "EGO amo Carnotense quod spreadsheets"

I love the motto!  A more idiomatic translation might be (and I hope I am doing this right, and that, if not, my former Latin teachers do not see it!):  AMO INDICIUM ET CHARTAS PRAESTANTES, which would translate to "I love data and Excel sheets" (well, actually, it translates as "sheets that are excelling," but it's the closest I could get!

Sheets that are excelling!!!

I just had an office full of people stop and look at me because I laughed out loud. :)

I like this version!

Question:  Does anyone know a good resource for finding out when pitchers are scheduled to start?  I know it's usually scheduled a few days in advance, but it would be useful in trying to decide on a lineup each week.

I will second the attached column.  And will include the CBS and MLB Probable Pitchers link.

Thanks, Nick and Michael, these all look like great resources.

Is anyone seeing game stats in your Week 1 matchup?  I can click and see what my players did yesterday but the stats don't show up as points in the matchup.

I noticed that this morning. We should be getting stats in real time, as the games progress. I'll be speaking with FanStar about how to make that happen. Probably a setting I don't have correct in the configuration.
