GeekDad Sports
I'm looking to gauge interest in forming a new, recurring fantasy baseball league for the GeekDad community. The target is 16 franchises with ownership teams consisting of parent-kid partnerships. It is important that kids take an active role.
Ideally, owners will:
We can make a go of any league that has at least 8 franchises, but we'll definitely pick an even number of franchises and cap out participation at 20. Divisional alignment will be done after we have our final list of owners, to allow for us to group teams geographically as much as possible.
To claim a franchise, reply to this thread expressing your interest and send me an email (kevin@makice.net) with your name and contact information, including your location. The list in the thread will serve as a waiting list until you are invited to officially join.

Also - what type of league will it be? Pure stats, head to head? Draft or auction? :) I imagine draft and stats would be easiest.

Definitely weekly games, head to head. Likely rotisserie style categories, where we directly compare different stats to score points. Draft over auction is my preference, but we'll talk through those options as a group in the days ahead, as well as what tools (including manual calculation) might be available to us during the season to manage the league.

Permalink Reply by Thomas Watson on April 4, 2012 at 12:42pm I'm interested in joining and playing with my 9-year-old son, but I am a novice (played fantasy football several times, but never fantasy baseball). Though I know a bit about baseball, I don't have a great deal of knowledge about current players (unless they played in the '90s, which is about when I stopped paying active attention to MLB). That said, I'm interested and would love to introduce my son to baseball fandom.
Does fantasy baseball have a steep learning curve? Any recommended resources for learning more? Would I be holding people back by having to learn on the fly?
