GeekDad Survivor NFL Pickem

In addition to the GeekDad Fantasy Football league, I am looking to form a GeekDad Survivor Multiplier NFL Pickem league.  This is much less complicated and time consuming as compared to the fantasy sports.  Each week you pick one winner of a NFL game.  The catch is once you select a team, that team may not be used again during the contest.

Being GeekDads, we have to kick it up a notch with win multipliers.  For 1 win, you get 1 point.  For 2 consecutive wins, you get 2 points for both wins (2 wins x 2 = 4 points total).  For each additional game in the consecutive win streak, you get another point (4 consecutive wins x 4 = 16 points).  For example, 3 consecutive wins, 1 loss, 5 consecutive wins, 2 losses, 1 win would result in (3 wins x 3 + 0 for loss + 5 wins x 5 + 0 for two losses + 1 win x 1 = 35 points total).

Some Survivor leagues work where once you get a game wrong, you are out of the league.  We do not work that way.  The multiplier incents you to get multiple weeks in a row.  It also keeps everyone in the league.  The objective is to score as many points as you can by the end of the season.

Ideally, players will:

  1. You can either play with your child -or- have you and your child as seperate players
  2. Commit to playing the full season
  3. Participate by submitting a pick each week before the start of the first NFL game - beware Thursday night games later in the season
  4. Talk some smack through out the season through the pool website

We can make a go of a survivor pool that has at least 10 players.  Due to the nature of this pool, we can have as many players as interested.

To claim a spot in this survivor pool, reply to this thread expressing your interest and send me an email (iowahokies@gmail.com) with your name and contact information, including your location. The list in the thread will serve as a waiting list until you are invited to officially join.

GeekMoms are welcome.  The beauty of this pool is that your kids could each do their own as well as any GeekMoms.

I have a site setup, but I just haven't had time to put a blog posting together to generate interest. 

I'll see if I can get a post on the blog to generate some interest in the Survivor Pick Em.

I am going to try to get a Survivor Pickem pool off the ground as well.  You are welcome to let your child/children do their own picks and you can pick as well.

ok, I am signed up. I donot see a way to add people to my "Player."


We may just look over the list and decide as a group.
