Last Christmas my wife bought the kids and me a whole load of robot toys, the highlight of which was kit for an Arduino powered rover type robot.
It was my first experience of building something like this so, having a kit was a great place to start, but there was a lot to learn.
This project will summarise what I learnt building this and the other robots I've worked on in the last year or so hopefully anyone else can build one without having to do as much searching as I did.

The basic documentation of the project is here as "Pages". So far its an introduction to the hardware. I'll post the software soon, along with a page on making the chasis, and some more advanced hardware/software sensors.
This project does not have any discussions yet.

Comment by Ian stephenson on November 7, 2012 at 6:06pm I'm currently working on hooking the system into Scratch to make controlling the system more kid friendly. One of the byproducts of this is that it'll be possible for multiple users on multiple machines to all write their own code to control different aspects of the system.
I think I've got the technical issues sorted, but if anyone has more experience of using Scratch (I'm pretty new to it), then it would be useful swap ideas about how the robot should look to the Scratch world

Comment by Ian stephenson on September 18, 2012 at 5:50pm This is my new home office desk, Apparently it used to belong to the local TV station. I think it gives the right feel to the robot control centre. I'll probably be a bit occupied getting it installed, but I'll try and get the core of the rover's runtime software posted before it arrives.
