Navel-gazing

I'm a stay-at-home dad, married to a family doctor and in charge of two daughters. I'm a sucker for dead tree books and board games. I live in Portland, Oregon, though I've also spent good chunks of time in Florida and Kansas.

Before I got sucked into the world of GeekDad, I wrote book reviews on my Hungry Brain site, mostly for the purpose of reminding myself what I'd read and whether or not I liked it.

I make drawings—on paper, on the Etch-a-Sketch, on windows—and although I have less time for that these days, I still have a website with some of my various artsy endeavors: RainyBayArt.

I have no idea what my kids will be when they grow up, but I'm doing my best to instill a love for stories, a love of science, and a love of these old parents they'll one day have to take care of.

Writing in the Margins of My Life: An Ode to Blogging

Posted on March 13, 2012 at 2:24pm 2 Comments

Happy birthday, GeekDad! Two years ago, when I'd been writing for GeekDad for only a year, I wrote this "Ode to Blogging." Since then, I've only become more involved in GeekDad—it's a huge part of my life, and getting to know the other GeekDad writers has been a fantastic experience. So, in honor of GeekDad's 5th birthday and the launch of the new GeekDad Community, here's my love song to blogging...…

Hey Jonathan! Thanks for the welcome and the bday wishes. Had an awesome time hanging out with Ken at Dad 2.0, he's great. And he invited me to be a mod here! So yay, I'm in the collective now!

Yeah, thanks for the pointer, and nice post. Also, FWIW, I love the temari balls.
