Profile Information

What are some of your geeky hobbies?
Full time Dad, part time designer & coder, not much time left for anything else.

I worked for the BBC for over 10 years, designing websites for programmes as diverse as The Teletubbies and Horizon, and looking after the /science, /history and /languages portals. I left in 2007 to become a full time Dad when my daughter was 1 and I've never looked back.

I first discovered Geekdad in 2009 after stumbling across the blog via a Star Wars related post (of course) and found a fabulous bunch of like minded people. A few months later, Ken put out a call for new writers and I thought, "Why not?, I'm a Dad and I'm a Geek!". I was amazed and honoured when they asked me to join in the fun.

In my non-parenting moments, I helped to create the Magic Belles, a fun new group of friends for little girls, with my better half and her business partner. I've built the website and we're currently developing a fun musical app for iOS.
Say hello to them at http://magicbelles.com and follow them on Twitter @magicbelles

I'm @geekDadNath and I'm a geek!

Favorite geeky media (books, music, movies)?
Iain M. Banks, Star Wars (of course), the collected works of Pegg/Frost/Wright

We made a couple of cardboard arcade games and took them along to a local mini harvest festival. 10p a go on each of them, with a fun pass available (12 games for a pound), and we raised over £20 for the imagination foundation.

Top score on the Butterfly Bowling won a Lego Brickmaster book (which we acquired from the Build a World Map event on London's Southbank over the summer) and top score on Hamhaugh Island won a set of Mario figures I was sent as a sample…
