Blogging Content and Working With the Community Leaders

Hey everyone! First, I want to say welcome to all the folks that have joined us due to, and since, GeekDad Day. We are really, really happy to see you all here, and we can feel the excitement growing for our little corner of the internets.

I want to take a moment and talk about blogging here on the Community. As this is in many ways an experiment, we are all still working out the kinks, and some irregularities will come up from time to time. Our policies are not perfect, and we're all…

Would you like to write for GeekDad?

We get quite a few people asking if they can write for GeekDad. I think they assume it's some fancy, high-paying gig, with masseuses and a nice dining room, like Google.

It isn't.

GeekDad is a bunch of dads and moms around the world who are geeks, and parents, and like to blog about the stuff that interests them. There *can* be a (very) little money in it, but mostly it's done for the fun of it. There is some measure of exposure (we are on Wired.com after all), and we all get…

This Father's Day, Celebrate National GeekDad Day Instead

For so long, the stereotype of Father's Day has been that dads who don't spend enough time with their kids normally HAVE to do something with them, and get a tie in return. We can all look back on the…

Hey GeekDad 2.0 testers! Yes, it's been a while since much happened around here. We've been waiting for Ning to make some upgrades to the functionality, and one of those has happened. We now have a lovely rich text editor working, which will hopefully make the blogging experience quite a big nicer! Please feel free to test it out and let us know what you… Continue

GeekDad 2.0 Beta Information

Welcome beta testers!

So, here's the deal: we need guinea pigs - er, "beta testers" to come in and kick the wheels on our new community features. We plan on rolling this stuff out at some fuzzy future date somewhere between a couple weeks and a couple months away, but we want to make sure it all works, it all makes sense to people, that it has everything anyone could want, and that it looks a little lived-in when we go public. That's were you all come in.

What this beta… Continue
