My daughters are obsessed with Pixar movies, as am I. One of their favorites is UP. For those not familiar with the movie, it starts off with a couple of young children, a boy and a girl who enjoy imaginary adventures together. The girl, Ellie, creates a badge for Carl, made from a purple soda pop top and pins it on him.

This did not seem to be a tough thing to make, so I set out and surprised my girls with their very own Ellie pins.
One grape, the other orange.
The safety pin was soldered to the back of the pop top.
It was important to use something to hold onto the pin with while soldering, as the soldering iron transferred heat to the pin very quickly.
After all was said and done, the pins were securely fastened to the girls' shirts.

Would love to see a bit more of a step-by-step outline of this project....to make it easier for some of us....
Comment by Kathy Ceceri on April 15, 2012 at 9:25am Cute idea! Just wanted to add, as a crafter who's still learning her way around a soldering iron, you can buy peel-and-stick pin backings for projects like this. In this case, you might want to glue a piece of foam or cork inside the cap, and then attach the pin backing to that.
