Next week, the boy and I will have the house to ourselves because his sister and my wife will be gone to summer camp. Other than Day Camps, the boy has never been away and this is something I plan to remedy in next few years just to get that experience.
Next week though, it’s just us guys and I was thinking about having a little "man” time with my son. I also figure that if I keep him busy, he will tuckered out and not prone to missing his mom as much.
We live in Savannah so I figure some fishing, a possible trip to the beach, and visit some of the historical sites are in order. I figure we’ll grill some and try some open fire cooking. Any ideas or suggestions for other activiites? I’d love to see what you guys might suggest especially within our geek realm!
Thanks

Thanks, guys
Get your nature-geek on.
1.) Set up a little treasure caching and teach him how to use the compass to follow the treasure map. It takes a little prep on your part ahead of time.
2.) You can also be foresters for a day: collect leaf samples, make and use a tree height estimator stick, look for evidence of insect activity in/on/around the trees.
3.) Dig and plant some stuff. Digging is crazy good for tiring them out, but boy do kids love to dig. :-D
Best of luck!

PVC piping and making a Potato or Marshmallow launcher can be priceless.
Or just go buy/acquire a ton of cardboard and see what he comes up with himself.
Comment by Glenn Gass on July 16, 2012 at 7:39pm water bottle rockets. you can make a launcher for less then 20 bucks. We made Nicks when he was 4 we played with every time he was off from school.
