Son's school lots of sports no after school science I decided to change that.
Phase two Time to Get Social.
Due to the school year testing, field trips and sports activities we were limited in the number of days we could work in the gym, on the fields, or in classrooms. This required some original scheduleling to say the least. We even held a meeting in the detention room and the PTA office when other areas were not available. This meant there were days we couldn't do active builds or breaks, so we worked on social activities these days.
We had four social days for us. These were day we worked on projects that would not be requiring most of our tools. We had a Diet Coke and Mentos rocket day. The kids designed a water bottle rocket that would be powered by mentos. We built a launcher and put it together. Duct taping the parts together had the expected results
On another occasion the guys designed there own Fluxx cards and a new way to play: Fluxx War. We use that with the Kindergarten now as a easier game then Fluxx. They also had an endless crash up derby game with Legos attached to remote control cars.
On the last of the social meetings we learned about battle bots and the principals of bot design. There was also lots of horseplay, joking, and normal preteen banter.
It was a lot of fun for me and I hope they liked it too.
Next time we will talk about the Build Weeks.
