I've got such a huge backlog of books, board games, and apps to review that I could probably write a review a day and still not be caught up in a year... There are only so many in-depth articles I can write in a month. So over here on the Community side of things, I'll do a little Stack Overflow bit: quick glances at some of the things on my shelves, or even just a list of stuff. If there are things on my list you'd really like to see in a full review, leave it in the comments, and maybe I'll try to bump it up the queue!
Children's Books
Mega Mash-Up series: a funny series that lets you draw in sections of the illustrations
Pantone Colors: a learn-your-colors board book for babies of designer geeks
Magritte's Marvelous Hat: a fantastic picture book playing with Magritte's surrealism
Randy Riley's Really Big Hit: geeky kid loves baseball, but always strikes out

Comment by rino19ny on March 16, 2012 at 5:48am well i guess some of use are lucky ;) .. nah just kidding. crossing my fingers that all my servers are working. actually that's hard to do, crossing your fingers. lol
Comment by Jonathan H. Liu on March 15, 2012 at 11:43pm Ok, rino19ny, I'll try to write Bamboo Dance up sometime soon, too. Lots of time and not much to do? How does that happen?
Comment by rino19ny on March 15, 2012 at 11:35pm you're exactly the opposite of me.. when it comes to time management. got a lot of time on my hands and not much to do. so let's see, um, Bamboo Dance looks interesting. completely non-techie for a techie site ^_^
Comment by Jonathan H. Liu on March 14, 2012 at 3:34pm Hahaha. Well, the secret is: it would be nice to review books for a living, but I'm reviewing books for ... books. I'm a stay-at-home dad, and so far blogging isn't something that would come close to supporting my family. But I do get a lot of books to review!
Comment by Kara on March 14, 2012 at 3:32pm Perfectly understood. :)
Next question is, how do I get your job? Reviewing books for a living would be my dream job.
Comment by Jonathan H. Liu on March 14, 2012 at 3:29pm All right, Kara, I'll try to get to those next. Keep in mind that's about 900 pages of reading, so ... may take me a little bit. :)
Comment by Kara on March 14, 2012 at 3:16pm Please review Delirium & Pandemonium. I've been debating on trying to read them, but simply haven't seen enough reviews/info to make a decision. There's so much dystopian literature out right now, it's really hard to know what to read.
Comment by Jonathan H. Liu on March 13, 2012 at 4:54pm Yep. I like the mechanics, but with the amount of effort they put into building the setting (including short stories in the instructions and so forth), it seems bizarre that in gameplay you just mix werewolves, humans, and vampires indiscriminately. It'd be like making a zombie game where you play zombie and human cards to attack other zombies and humans from another player. Just doesn't click. I don't know if they've changed this at all in the expansions, but I doubt it.

Comment by Michael Harrison on March 13, 2012 at 4:36pm Based on what I've seen on your Twitter feed, you had the same problem I did with Nightfall: the theme. I really enjoy the mechanics, but I just don't really dig the whole werewolf/vampire thing. Every time I played it, I wished it was an official Dresden Files deck builder, which would actually be pretty cool... vampires and werewolves and all.
