Andrew Garfield, his name is Andrew Garfield.
My wife and our friends had just finished a lovely meal, trying to decide what to do next, and we all agreed that we would give 'The Amazing Spider-Man' a try and see exactly how amazing it really was. We were not disappointed. This 28 year old actor gave all of us a pleasant surprise with a very well rounded performance of the young web-slinging super hero.
This reboot seemed to take scenes from the original movie released back in 2002, parts from the comic book series, as well as some fresh material to the mix. What I noticed most was Peter Parker's quirky personality and very complex character. It was nice to open the movie on a young Parker playing what appears to be a game of hide and seek with his father. Within the first ten minutes of the film, you are finding yourself feeling helpless as this young child is left with his caring aunt and uncle as he watches his mother and father go off into the rainy night. To see his introverted, somewhat rebellious side come out at school, and then turn around and cheer for him as Peter stands up for a student being bullied showed how a true teenager usually behaves. His character's relationship with Aunt May and Uncle Ben is heartwarming. The casting of Sally Fields and Martin Sheen were spot on, and you felt like you were right at home smelling Aunt May's cooking. As always, it is fun to see where Stan Lee will show up in the film. Emma Stone, Denis Leary, and Rhys Ifans all did a wonderful job portraying each of their respective characters and added to this well flowing story line. I won't mention what other actor makes an appearance in this movie other than that I loved watching movies with him in it during my growing years back in the 1980's. He makes you sit up in your seat and want to help cheer on Spider-Man.
Even though this movie might have had the lowest grossing opening weekend for any of the Spiderman movies, in my opinion, it outperformed all others. The off beat humor and quick one liners added to the comedy of this film. The effects were extremely well done, and I would highly recommend watching this in 3-D. I won't delve too far into this great movie for fear of spoilers, but I will say that I am glad we decided to take in this flick, and we look forward to the next 'Amazing Spider-Man'.

Any guesses?
Comment by Rob Keisacker on July 12, 2012 at 12:36am I just checked out a trailer of "500 Days of Summer" and that looks like a well done piece. I might have to check that one out.
Comment by Robert Richardson, Jr. on July 10, 2012 at 11:43am As much as I love Raimi, I was have to admit this reboot did an amzing job. Garfield is a much better Peter Parker. He was alos in that Terry Gilliam flick, "The Imagaginariuo of Dr. Parnisuss." Kid's got some charisma.
Check "500 Days of Summer" That was the director's previous work and also has lots of heart. Great review. Thanks
